Couples generally come to counselling when they are unable to work through their issues on their own. These issues may be to do with communication styles, financial problems, parenting methods, intimacy or sexual differences, value conflicts, affairs or anger problems.
When discussing the problems on their own, the couple may both feel as though they have the same discussion/argument over and over again without any resolution. In Couple therapy Judy assists couples to discuss and understand each other’s concerns in a non-threatening environment. She is able to facilitate these discussions so that couples are able to understand what makes each partner uncomfortable and defensive. She is able to teach them to communicate and work in more positive ways so that they are able to work toward achieving shared goals more harmoniously. Often they are then able to make changes which make each partner feel more comfortable in the relationship.
